Following a competitive pitch, Katharine Hamnett the true pioneer of eco chic and fashions most out-spoken political designer, chose Rabbit & Hare to be their brand, digital and agency partner. Katharine Hamnetts iconic tees first caused a stir in the early 80’s, the designer has since built a reputation as true pioneer of eco chic and branding herself as fashions most political designer.

Bring Katharine Hamnett brand to life online, build a responsive social enabled ecommerce website which enables the user to purchase in 3 clicks. The website also needs to support the fashion seasons calendar with multipul templates that allow Katharine Hamnett to refresh, place a variety of imagery and video’s and inspire the continued evolution of the brand.
The primary function is to sell KH clothing, which will be supported by blog, historical information and contact areas. The blog has already been created to provide news and communicate with customers on social, political and ethical issues; this will be integrated into the shop before the launch.
Rabbit & Hare will support the individual requirements of the client globally as well as looking at Katharine Hamnett on a national level, focusing on its unique identity and the characteristics which differentiate the brand from its competitors.
Our first job was to understand the red route user journeys for customers which allowed us to identify the key features, functionality content. We worked with the client to fully understand what the brand stands for, does and how it supports the ongoing challenges of ethical fashion.
The homepage or ’Shop window’ was a our main focus with the need to create specific layout for woman, men, children and the various 1 off t-shirts they create for charities. We also need to consider what the KH users need from the site and the potential pitfalls that need to be avoided in the traditional buying patterns of its users. We decided the homepage needed to be highly flexible an have a potential 12 different design layouts for each vertical.
The logically structured user friendly site allowed us to place the strong branding style to life and produce a site that worked on a global level to support the target audience and the seasons.
With the strong responsive design we needed to choose an out of the box solution, because we needed to get to market, reduce the delivery times and keep the development to a minimum. We chose shopify because its simply to create, has its own payment solution and you can access 1000 of apps. It was perfect for Katharine Hammnett because its simple, the platform is intuitive and the costs are minimal for a client that wants to test the water.
